BANDS

On Friday evening, June 5th at 7:00 pm, the New North String Band from the Eau Claire, Twin Cities area, will shake off the work week and start the week end by opening the Festival. Next, the legendary Chicago Bluegrass Band, new to this area but not to bluegrass, will bring their bluegrass chops to the headliner stage at 8 pm. Beginning at 10 am on Saturday morning, June 6th, there will be at least two (2) no-charge instrumental technique workshops and perhaps a workshop on how to start your own bluegrass band. At 11 am, the Open Mike returns and this year we hope to have a line up of both rookies and veterans performing. At 1 pm, the bluegrass submersion begins with 7 bands playing 50 minute sets until 8 pm when the James King Band, our national headliner, takes the stage. We have been waiting for the James King Band all year and are delighted to have this national, award winning bluegrass band top off this years’ supreme Festival. We believe we have brought together a Festival that will please everyone—even the folks who aren’t sure they like bluegrass. Learn new skills, practice performing, jam when you can, listen to the best, make mistakes, have fun, hear your heart sing, and make music…. It’s time for the old fashioned Brooklyn Bluegrass Festival. band info>>

REFRESHMENTS, CAMPING AND TICKET INFO

This event, like last year, provides our local organizations and churches an opportunity to raise funds by providing delicious, homemade food, beverages and beer for the event. The Lions Club will serve an American beer and our own New Glarus microbrew, Spotted Cow. We will again have rough camping (no hookups) in the Park, both Friday and Saturday nights; after the show jamming around the campfire (wood provided) to end a perfect day and a chance to meet some great people. The Festival will also be handicapped accessible. vendor info>>

Tickets are: $10 Friday eve; $20 all day Saturday; $25 both days; 12 years and under, no charge; and $7/night camping. This is one of the greatest music deals of the year and we hope you take advantage of this great live bluegrass music opportunity. We are trying to keep the ticket prices low to make this music affordable to a greater audience. camping info>>

WEATHER

At three of the last 4 Festivals, we have sustained at least one nasty rainstorm. We learned we needed a large tent to keep the stage and fans sheltered from thunderstorms and/or hot sun, so regardless of the weather, the performances will take place under a 40x100 foot tent. Bring your lawn chairs (the size should permit visibility for other guests).

Come to the Festival—we know you will have a great time! Many of you have been waiting to come back and we look forward to seeing you. more info>>
